Ensure that every incoming PGF-ISEP graduate freshman knows at least one senior ISEP graduate student who can provide advice on:
Make a new friend who can support you as you embark on your PhD candidature
Facilitate future collaboration
During Induction Day, every PGF-ISEP graduate freshman will be introduced to their Senior Buddy, who is usually in their 2nd year.
The Senior Buddy will provide support to the Freshman Junior Buddy through in-person or virtual meetings for two semesters to help the Junior Buddy adjust to life as a PhD student. The meetings may include lab visits and on-campus tours. The frequency and the purpose of meetings should be mutually agreed upon by both parties.
Both the Junior and Senior Buddies may be asked to provide feedback on their experience to the ISEP Director.
During Induction Day, every NGS graduate freshman will be introduced to their 2nd year Senior Buddy.
The Freshman Junior Buddy and 2nd year Senior Buddy will meet as often as possible (min. 2 times a year) and visit each other’s lab and be introduced to each other’s supervisor.
Both the Junior and Senior Buddies will provide feedback on their experience every semester.
